Koinonia

Koinonia is a discipleship course for the Coptic Church, consisting of eight 20 - 25-minute episodes. The course was produced with Bishop Thomas of Qussia, with an introduction by Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Church.

Coptic Christians in Egypt form the largest Christian community in the Middle East. The Coptic church is one of the oldest churches in the region. Copts are struggling due to discrimination and attacks. Yet they show courageous signs of forgiveness and steadfastness. On the other hand, we see many Copts who are no longer active in their church and community. The lack of relationship with that community puts them at risk of alienation from their faith as well.

Together with the Coptic Church, Arab Vision has developed a project, Koinonia, which focuses on coming together, listening together, speaking together and, not least, eating together. People are invited to a weekly meal, followed by a joint viewing of a video discussing important aspects of faith and church life in a refreshing way.

Important goal is to get people excited about their faith again and become active in the Christian community again, setting a milestone of renewed commitment.

The meetings are organised by the local churches and local priests and other discussion leaders are trained beforehand to lead the meetings and stay in touch with the participants after the journey of joint action.

The entire course is subtitled in English, so the material can also be used with migrants.
