Maryam, the bawaab's daughter

A short film about an 8-year-old girl. She is the daughter of a poor doorman's family. Such a family often lives in a small room at the bottom of the building where the father is a doorman. Maryam is a Christian girl who faithfully attends Sunday school. There, one day, she hears that there are many poorer children in Sudan and the Sunday school group is challenged to help them.

Maryam saves the little she gets from time to time to buy something nice and she starts doing chores for the residents in the building.

Unfortunately for Maryam, an uncle is getting married and her mother urges her to give the money she has saved for a new dress for the wedding. But Maryam does not want a new dress, she has to help those poor children!

Then a small miracle happens just before the wedding...

The short film, based on a true story, is simple and moving and won awards for best screenwriter, best director and best actor (Maryam!) at a 2022 film festival in Alexandria, Egypt.
