Yemeni women are far from having the same opportunities as men, which is why there is a need to strengthen women's identity, eliminate discrimination, oppression and violence against women and recognise their (educational) rights.
We produced 26 short video clips for social media and satellite TV, comparing the inner world of Yemeni women with the outer world in which they have to meet all kinds of expectations.
Topics Yemeni women struggle with include feelings of inferiority, family, envy, abuse, gender inequality, shame, perspective for the future.
Use of social media gives women (and men!) the opportunity to respond in anonymity. Follow-up teams engage with people who are touched by the message and want to tell their own story about their situation with the ongoing despair in their country.
