The so-called Arab Spring may not have led to much more freedom in Arab countries, but it did lead to a wave of people who started openly doubting their Christian or Muslim faith. Many parents became very concerned about their teenage children starting to claim they had become atheists.
For Arab Vision, this was in a sense a good sign. We produced a series of programmes to open the discussion in a constructive way. The spotlight is on families dealing with young people who express doubts, family members who openly call themselves atheists, parents and other family members who have no idea how to deal with this. No one is used to having an open conversation about (un)faith, and that is the aim of the programmes: to open the conversation, to give space for questions and doubts. No ready-made answers, but searching together for the essence of faith.
The dramatised programme centres on a family living with other family members in an apartment complex. The series consists of 13 episodes and was broadcast on satellite TV. Short clips were shared on our social media.
